Indian Railway Booking – Indian Railway Reservation, Enquiry

Indian Railways has offered a lot of ways of booking the tickets via various computerized Reservation Counters, online railway reservation like I ticket and E Ticket, Booking agents, etc.  Now to extend the convenience of booking the tickets, Indian Railways has opened up exclusive counters which accept the payment via credit cards. At present this facility is available at the Computerized Reservation Counter and no service charges are applied while reserving the tickets on a credit card.

E tickets and Online ReservationOne can book the tickets with the help of various authorized Rail Travelers Service Agents and Railway Tourist Agents, in case if one is not able to book the tickets via Railway Reservation counters.  These agents will book the tickets by making the payment of prescribed charges.

Railway authorized agents are not assigned separate reservation quotas and they have to wait for their turn in the Reservation Office for booking the tickets like any other passenger.  One may get the phone numbers and addresses and of these Travel Agents from the Station Manager.

Passengers seeking reservation may postpone the reservation in advance.  This advancement of journey date on confirmed/RAC/Waitlisted tickets can be done in the same class by making the payment of fresh reservation charges.  However this facility can only be availed if there is availability of accommodation in the same class.

In case of passenger want to advance the journey date, he is required to surrender his ticket at least six hours prior to the scheduled departure of the train and during the working hours. In case of postponement, one is required to surrender the ticket 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the train where the reservation is at present held.

Travel AgentsOne can change the boarding station and for this one has to contact any Computerized Reservation Center or submit a written request to the Station Manager of the original boarding station. This request has to be made at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the train.  However, no refund is allowed for the unused portion of the travel.
